What dedicated actually gives you

Private hardware, a full physical CPU, predictable I/O, raw bandwidth and out-of-band access. Reach for dedicated when a VPS's hypervisor is the bottleneck — or the legal issue.

I/O-bound databases & caches

Postgres, MySQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, Redis at scale — predictable NVMe throughput, no hypervisor jitter, NUMA-pinned memory.

Rendering, transcoding, ML

Blender render farms, Handbrake/ffmpeg transcoding, Stable-Diffusion batch inference, model training warm pools — every thread is yours.

Crypto & Web3 nodes

Bitcoin Core, Monero, Ethereum archive, Solana validators, Arweave miners — heavy-disk workloads that eat shared SAN for breakfast.

Streaming & CDN origin

Unmetered 10 – 25 Gbps pipes, L3/L7 DDoS shield, custom tuning of conntrack and kernel buffers. Jellyfin, Owncast, SRS, Peertube.

Compliance / sole-tenant

Workloads that must not share physical hardware with strangers: financial back-office, pen-test labs, internal tooling with compliance hooks.

Low-latency & kernel-heavy

DPDK, XDP, VFIO passthrough, custom kernels, real-time schedulers, NIC offload tuning — anything that needs bare hardware to behave.

Real silicon. ECC-Registered memory.

Each tier corresponds to a named CPU SKU — not a nebulous "equivalent." Here's exactly what you're renting.

Is dedicated the right fit?

Dedicated wins on predictable I/O, sole-tenant isolation and raw throughput. VPS wins on price, flexibility and speed of deployment. Here's the cheat sheet.

Dedicated · $79 – $599/mo

Pick dedicated when…

You want a full physical CPU, NVMe pipelines you don't share, custom RAID, and direct IPMI — not a slice of a hypervisor.

  • I/O-bound databases, heavy caches
  • Custom kernels, DPDK, VFIO passthrough
  • Sole-tenant / compliance requirements
  • > 32 GB RAM or 10+ cores used full-time
  • Rendering, simulation, HFT, Web3 archive nodes
Browse dedicated builds
VPS · $16.99 – $69/mo

Pick VPS when…

You want the cheapest root-access box that can run anything, upgrade on the fly, and scale horizontally across jurisdictions.

  • You need a VM live in 60 seconds
  • You value price elasticity & monthly flex
  • Your workload fits in ≤ 32 GB RAM
  • You don't need a specific CPU SKU
  • Resellers, app hosts, VPN, dev boxes

Dedicated-server questions, answered

What does "bare-metal" actually get me vs a VPS?
A physical chassis with your name on the lease — no hypervisor layer, no CPU-sharing, no noisy neighbours. Full access to the host kernel, all CPU cores, raw NVMe throughput, DPDK/XDP-friendly NIC, hardware RNG, NUMA-pinned RAM. If you've ever hit performance ceilings inside a VM, bare-metal removes them.
How is RAID configured? Can I pick the level?
Yes — at checkout you pick RAID level from the options available for your drive count. 2-drive builds offer RAID 0 or 1; 4-drive builds add RAID 5 and 10. We don't force a default. If you want no RAID at all (independent disks, e.g. for Ceph), that's also a checkbox.
How fast is provisioning?
Median time from confirmed payment to SSH login is 2 – 4 hours for dedicated. Monero payments clear in ~2 minutes; Bitcoin takes one confirmation (~10 minutes); the rest is racking, wiring, IPMI setup and OS install. We ship console output to your dashboard while it runs.
Do I get full IPMI / KVM-over-IP access?
Yes. Every dedicated server includes a VPN-gated IPMI endpoint — console, power cycle, ISO mount, BIOS/UEFI access. You can netboot custom ISOs, re-image the drives yourself, flash firmware, and debug boot issues without opening a ticket.
What's the 4-hour hardware-swap SLA?
If a component (PSU, drive, NIC, RAM module) fails, we commit to a hardware swap within 4 business hours of confirmed diagnosis. In practice most replacements happen within 60 – 90 minutes — we keep a spares pool in every location. Service credits apply if we miss the window.
Can I bring my own IPs or announce an ASN?
Yes, on Fortress and Citadel tiers. Send us your IP block and LOA; we'll accept the announcement over BGP from your ASN (we peer AS174, AS2914, AS6939 and several IXs). Contact sales for BYOIP setup — typical lead time is 2 – 3 business days.
Can I request custom hardware (extra RAM, GPU, drives)?
Often yes. Common upgrades — extra 32/64 GB RAM modules, additional NVMe drives, GPU add-in cards (A2000, A4000, RTX 4000 SFF Ada) — ship on Bastion/Fortress/Citadel. Exotic configurations (custom backplanes, 100 Gbps NICs, dual GPUs) are quoted as custom builds. Ask.
Do you allow public Bitcoin / Monero / Ethereum nodes?
Yes — explicitly. Public full nodes, archive nodes, Lightning nodes, Monero remote nodes, Solana RPC, Ethereum validators and staking infrastructure are all allowed and encouraged. We only ask that you rate-limit inbound JSON-RPC if you expose it publicly, to avoid spillover into abuse-desk territory.
